I
recruited my seven year-old granddaughter to take turns with me
reading this to my two year-old granddaughter. Coincidentally these
are the extremes of the recommended age range for this book. It's a
fun story with two friends, Kat and Maus, (who are what you'd expect
them to be from their names) both confused about what's going on.
Maus isn't sure where he or she is while Kat can't figure out why
Maus has disappeared.
The
two year-old was intrigued by the illustrations. The seven year-old
had no problems with the vocabulary and thought the story fun to read
to her little sister. I'd recommend Kat
and Maus as a solid
choice for an early reader, or for a parent or older sibling to read
to a preschooler.
